Brancolini Grimaldi is to open a new gallery space in April 2011 on Albemarle Street, in central London. The gallery aspires to showcase innovative artists who merge photography with other media such as performance, installation and video art. By responding to this direction, Brancolini Grimaldi will introduce a more conceptual context, giving photography another dimension and redefining the future of the medium in the way it is both displayed and experienced. In addition to pursuing relationships across different contemporary art forms, the gallery also gives special attention to making connections between different generations of artists. Considering bodies of work by artists from the 1960s and 1970s, ranging from South America to Central Europe, the gallery will also exhibit the work of those artists who embodied similar philosophies and were groundbreaking for their own eras alongside their contemporary counterparts.
