--- Gallery Directors: Bruno Bischofberger and Tobias Mueller --- In 1963 Bruno Bischofberger opens his first gallery in Zurich. Initial contacts and first exhibition of American Pop artists: Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, etc.. 1968 ?First right of refusal? contract with Andy Warhol until his death in 1987. In the early 60s Bruno Bischofberger organizes exhibitions with the Swiss artist Jean Tinguely whose Catalogue Raisonné he later publishes. First show for Gerhard Richter outside Germany in 1966 at Galerie Bischofberger. Shows exhibitions with works by Yves Klein and other exponents of Nouveau Realisme. In the late 1960's and early 70s follow a series of one-man exhibitions and installations with Bruce Nauman, On Kawara, Donald Judd, Joseph Kosuth, Dan Flavin, Sol Lewitt and others. Works by modern classics such as Picasso, Matisse and Léger are added to the program. As from 1979 Bruno Bischofberger shows exclusively works by Julian Schnabel, David Salle, Francesco Clemente, Enzo Cucchi, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Miquel Barceló, George Condo, Peter Halley and Mike Bidlo. The gallery publishes books on most of the above mentioned artists and helps to organize major museum retrospectives. The gallery represents Ettore Sottsass, the renowned contemporary architect and designer. In 1997 Bruno Bischofberger shows a one-man exhibition with works by the acclaimed British artist Damien Hirst.
