Founded on November 12, 1993, the gallery has had a threefold aim: a) to disseminate work and support projects by emerging Portuguese artists; b) to further knowledge of certain international artists (A. R. Penck, Antonio Saura, Antonio Seguí, Alan Davie, Pat Andrea, Karel Appel, Antoni Tàpies, Jaume Plensa, Enzo Cucchi, Carmen Calvo, Jorge Galindo, Julian Schnabel); c) to strength the position of some of the leading figures in Portuguese painting of the past thirty years (Costa Pinheiro, Nikias Skapinakis, René Bertholo, Jorge Martins, João Vieira). To achieve these aims, it has staged and co-curate major exhibitions in museums and institutions, and taken part in international art fairs.
