With a focus on Africa, South America, South Asia and the Mediterranean we close a gap in the Vienna art scene. We represent artists with close ties to countries south of Austria, most of them living and working in Austria. Our work bases on our strong conviction that tolerance, openness and cultural variety constitute indispensable ideals for a peaceful, free and creative social existence. Artists - especially young talents, with close ties to countries south of Vienna are the leading light in our activities. Their cosmopolitan contemporary art constitutes the main issue of our exhibitions in the Gallery SUR Beyond Boundaries does not only mean to present the great variety of artistic creation, which is so vivid in our capital, in Austria and abroad. It does also mean to establish a renowned platform for this contemporary art from the periphery - globally speaking. Vienna simply gains from this artistic southern wind, which thanks to our engagement, is blowing through our city. Because this wind has not only brought openness and tolerance, it has also brought powerful art to the Austrian capital.
