MARELLA ARTE CONTEMPORANEA was founded in 1994 to promote contemporary art.
At the beginning Maria Rosa Marella e Primo Marella developed a program primarly focusing on American painting. Among the American artists with which the gallery worked are: Robert Yarber, Tom Birkner, Stephen Ellis, Lydia Dona, Steve Di Benedetto.
With the new opening in 1999 in Milan (via Lepontina, 8) the gallery is now featuring and showing besides painting, the work of photographers and new media artists. Among the artists with which the gallery works are: Andres Serrano, Inez Van Lamsweerde, David Levinthal, John Divola, Motohiko Odani, Edward Lipski, Paloma Navares, Roland Fischer, Robert Gligorov, Heli Rekula Eleanor Antin, Amy Sarkisian, Marnie Weber, Shinako Sato, Sue De Beer, Lyudmila Gorlova. The research on painting is also focusing on emerging Artists featuring works of: Nicole Eisenman, Kurt Kauper, Kojo Griffin, Sean Mellyn, Mike Cockrill, Michael Scott, Steve Mumford among others. It represents also some italian artists of new generation: Matteo Basilé, Luca Francesconi, Cristina Graziani, Paolo Consorti, Paolo Schmidlin.
