The gallery (founded in 1994) exhibits, promotes and sells
works in diverse media (painting, drawing, sculpture, prints,
photography, video) by contemporary artists.
Characteristics are a certain inwardness, serenity, silence,
melancholy, beauty and poetry and a formal language of
esthetics, which may lead the viewer to a different and
sensitive perception of the world. As the gallery name
semina rerum* suggests: „seeds of things“ is understood as
a metaphoric expression for the functions of art as
messenger from wordless regions, as a mirror of nature in
Becoming and vanishing, as a revelation of the inner nature
of things and as a bridge to knowledge of existence and
life.
Irčne Preiswerk, native of Basel (Switzerland) is since 1979
in the gallery business. 1980 until 1985 director at M.
Knoedler Gallery, Zurich; from 1985 until 1992 director at
Turske & Turske Gallery, Zurich. Collaborations in these
times with artists as e.g. Robert Motherwell, Armando,
Pierpaolo Calzolari, Arnulf Rainer, Magadalena
Abakanowicz, Franz Gertsch and James Turrell. Editor of
many publications: Louis Soutter, Gustave Klimt/Egon
Schiele/James Ensor/Alfred Kubin, Theodoros Stamos,
Magdalena Abakanowicz, James Turrell and more. 1998 –
2003 Trustee of the Fotomuseum Winterthur.
