The gallery was founded in Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1988. It was moved to ist current premises in a century home to Ettlingen in 1993. The space of the gallery covers about 200 m² with 5 to 6 exhibitions a year. It represents European contemporary art with a preference for systemic, constructive and minimal tendencies.
Gallery director Emilia Suciu originated in Transylvania, Romania, is also involved in promoting art from Romania. Over decades she had been collecting painting from Romania which ultimately resulted in the foundation of a collection „Painting from Romania in the XXth century“. The collection was debuted in the gallery december 2002. It is planed to be itinerated in museums and cultural institutions throughout Europe. It is accompanied by a vast catalog book (ISDN 3-00-010592-1).
